Pay awards

Learning and Teaching

Updated 20 September 2024

National pay awards are negotiated between CoSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) and Trades Unions on an annual basis. Pay awards are now applied from 1 August for Learning and Teaching colleagues. Where pay awards are agreed after this date, the changes to pay will be back-dated to 1 August.

2024 to 2025 pay award

CoSLA and Trade Unions have agreed in principle the 2024-2025 pay award for Learning and Teaching groups (Teachers, QIOs, Instructors, Educational Psychologists, and Education Support Officers) across Scotland.

The agreed pay award is an uplift of 4.27% and covers the period 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025.

The pay award is in the process of being formally signed-off by CoSLA and Trade Unions and updated salary rates for 2024 to 2025 will be available once this process is complete.
We anticipate that we’ll be able to share the new salary rates with you in October.

Due to the timing of the agreement being reached and signed-off nationally, and our local commitment to launch our new HR and Payroll system in October, it means that you should receive your pay increase, in full, with your November salary. Colleagues in scope should receive their back-pay on Thursday 28 November 2024.

We’d like to thank you in advance for your patience in awaiting the delivery of the pay award in November.

Further information

We know that you may have questions on how the pay award will affect you personally but unfortunately our HR colleagues won’t be able to provide personalised updates at this time.
